Our ethos

If you read through some of the case studies and other information on this site, or talk to any of our team, you'll realise that we take a rather different approach to much of the work that we undertake.

Underpinning the way we work is a set of core principles:

  • the importance of true open networks and value chains – to enhance competition and to promote development of local economies
  • the need for communities to play a leading role – both communities of people and of businesses
  • the value of mutual and multi-stakeholder ownership mechanisms both to drive take up and to ensure open competition

The idea that open and cooperative solutions can be successful – optimal even – may at first seem somewhat out of step with the mainstream. Our experience is that our solutions are highly effective, sustainable, and very cost-effective.
